Way back when, I used to write a satirical blog called Why I Hate DC. I have also written for We Love DC, Brightest Young Things, and Greater Greater Washington. For a while, the folks over at DCist were crazy enough to give me reign as a weekend editor. I've also provided communications services for a variety of candidates running for office.
I was once an extra on The West Wing, and I used to manage a hardware store and work at a rock club. In 2006 and 2007, I went on tour with a few different bands. My first job in progressive politics was at Media Matters for America. Before that, I was an intern at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the agency that the television show NCIS is based on.
At heart I am a writer, and I'm always looking for a new story to tell. Sometimes I share my adventures in a newsletter called Something Glimpsed. Maybe you'd like to sign up for it?
In a past life I was a photographer, and you can see some of my work on Flickr. Predictably, these days I take photos on my computer phone and post them to Instagram. I'm also on Facebook and LinkedIn.
